We buy silver flatware, silver serving sets and silverware

Aaron Buys Gold is a large buyer of silverware in the Edmonton area including silverware sets, silver knives, silver forks, silver spoons and more. Most silverware is sterling silver which is an alloy of 92.5% silver and 7.5% base metal such as copper. We only buy silverware and silverware sets that are composed of silver not silver plated as silver plate items have no recoverable silver content.

A good way to tell if a set is silver is to look for a stamp that says sterling or sterling silver. Most pieces that are not silver will NOT have a “sterling” or “sterling silver” stamp or they will clearly  say EP, EP Copper, EP Brass, Steel etc. Pieces with these stamps are not silver but silver plated over another metal and not something we would purchase. Pieces stamp “IS” are not silver but silver plate. Also, “International Silver” is silver plat not silver. The word “silver” unless it is accompanied by the word “sterling” is likely to be just plated silver.

Always look for a stamp that says “Sterling” or “Sterling Silver” these indicate sterling silver which we will purchase. Watch out for stamps that say “plate” or “EP”, these are not silver and we do NOT buy them.

In some cases some silverware may be silver but is not marked sterling. If you are not certain you can bring the items into our store for an evaluation or call us for more information.

Because of the higher prices of silver the silver price far exceeds any collectable or antique price and most silverware sets are purchased as a percentage of their scrap silver value and melted down unless a piece or set has a high collectable or historic value. Because of their high weight most full silverware sets will fetch at least several hundred dollars and up into the thousands at current silver prices.
